SKI TRIP 2013

Planning for the 31st Annual Newry High School Ski Trip is already underway for 2013. The trip will be taking place from 2 March - 9 March in Valloire.

"The Ski Trip has been organised to give pupils an opportunity to experience life in a different culture, climate and environment, and from their experiences to improve their self esteem and confidence as individuals, as they work with others in developing existing skills and learning new ones."

After another very successful Ski Trip this year to the French Resort of Alpe d'Huez, we have decided to make a provisional booking for next ski trip to the resort of Valloire, which is located high in the French Alps, last visited by the school in March 2010. It offers excellent skiing for both those who have never skied before as well as challenging skiing for those who have. We will be departing Saturday 2 March and returning Saturday 9 March 2013.

Once again we have decided to book through Skibound, a fully bonded company that we have used successfully for many years now.

As a school earlier this year we took the decision to run the ski trip every other year, and for many this will be the last opportunity to go on the trip with the next one not scheduled until March 2015.

What is included in the basic cost:-

• Return flights - Belfast/Grenoble
• Regional flight supplement and UK Departure Airport Tax
• Transfers between the foreign airport and the resort.
• 7 nights accommodation - Full board including all meals
• 6 Days ski hire including 4 hours of Ski lessons per day
• 6 Days lift pass
• UK and foreign airport taxes
• Full Medical and Travel Insurance cover
  (Including Ski breakage, piste closure and no surcharge guarantee on basic tour company prices)

The cost of the basic package from the tour company will be £799. The only extras to be budgeted for are optional dry slope lessons, for those who have never skied before and the cost of a coach to bring all pupils going on the trip to and from the local airport.

How to book

The total cost of the trip is spread over several months between now and December 2012. Skibound will ask the school for payments in 3 stages, an initial deposit of £100 and a second payment of £100 in early April. The balance will then be due late November.

If you wish you can make use of the payment plan, which will allow the trip to be paid for in smaller regular payments over each month at no extra cost.

* If the initial £100 deposit is received in school by Friday 29 November an early booking reduction of £10 is applied by Skibound so the total cost of the trip is £789.

** Skiers over 15 years old on the date of departure to France may have a lift pass supplement of £18.  This will be confirmed in the final invoice.

If you wish to reserve a place on the trip, please forward a deposit of £100 by Friday 27 January 2012, or earlier to take advantage of the early booking offer (see above), to Mr Millar.   Please note that these deposits are non-returnable. The remaining payments will be by either one of the methods above.  If you do decide to use the payment plan post dated cheques can be used to cover the payment due on the last Friday of each month if you wish.

The final balance must be paid by Friday 30 November 2012.  It must be emphasised that payments must be made on time as a condition of the price and surcharge guarantee of the basic package.

Please make cheques payable to Newry High School and cross them. A full booking form will be issued once a deposit has been paid and a place confirmed on the trip.  Other information, e.g. age, shoe size, height etc. must be filled in at a later date. Places will be allocated strictly on a first come/first served basis and numbers are limited.
